Each new season is a new story. It doesn’t get old for me no matter who’s holding the trophy when the story ends. Money may get you close, but without execution there is no winning.

Do I like when my team wins? Of course. If you commit to your team from spring to fall every year, winning it all is bliss regardless of past success. If you follow your team long enough, you have to learn to love the game when your team is losing. It’s when your team is losing you learn to appreciate winning when you’re lucky enough to be a part of it.

I was born in 1976, attended my first Yankees game in 1981, and became a fan. Winning was not familiar when I supported Mattingly (and others) through the 80s and fandom became even more difficult when both my brothers sold out after the 86 season.

I wasn’t alive for the Berra years where the Yankees won 5 in a row from 49-53 (or whenever).

There has to be one team in the history of sports that holds the top all-time spot. I’m glad it’s my team.
